The Competition

In the first stage, our judges will be selecting the five best entries in each of the competitions in each of five regions. These finalists will then be invited to take part in the heats which will be held in regional centres around the UK during March 2015.

At the time of going to press the following dates and venues have been confirmed:

  • SOUTH WEST HEAT – Monday 2nd March, at 10.30am, at Bradshaws, Kenn Road, Clevedon, North Somerset BS21 6LH
  • SCOTLAND HEAT– Tuesday 17th March, at 9.15am, at West Lothian College, Almondvale Crescent, Livingston, West Lothian EH54 7EP
  • NOTHERN HEAT – Wednesday 18th March, at 11am, at Sam Browne Foods, Kelleythorpe Industrial Estate, Driffield, Yorks YO25 9DJ
  • MIDLANDS – Thursday 19th March, at 11am – TMI Foods, Lodge Way, Lodge Farm Industrial Estate, Northants NN5 7US
  • SOUTH EAST HEAT – Wednesday 25th March, at IFE, Excel Centre, London (times to be confirmed)

The winners from the regional heats plus the best runners up will then be invited to the Final which will be held at the Lancaster London Hotel, London on Thursday 14th May 2015 – the same day that the Sammies (The British Sandwich Industry Awards) are held.

All the finalists will be invited to attend the dinner (with a partner) as guests of the sponsors.

How to enter

Entries are now closed. The contestants have received their sample products and are already designing their final recipes. They are required to create recipes for each category using the sponsor's product for that category and any other products they see fit. There is no requirement to use multiple sponsored ingredients at once. Unless you want to. 

Once you've received your ingredients and the recipe submission process has begun, for each recipe you’ll need to provide:

  • A name
  • A short description
  • A suggested RRP
  • The target marker - e.g. supermarket, sandwich bar etc.
  • A list of ingredients
  • A step by step method – this can be as simple as the construction order e.g. bread – butter – jam – butter – bread
